The British Spotted Society Breed Show at the Three Counties

The 2016 British Spotted Pony Society Breed Show returned to it’s old home on the Malvern Showground this year, and proved to be a great success for all of those people that attended. Once again the AGM was held the night before, and the social evening was well attended. The weather smiled on us and it was lovely to see some new faces this year, and some new ponies. It has showed us that Malvern is a very popular venue with our members, and combined with the chance to compete the day before at the Midlands In Hand there was no doubt that it attracted more interest. There were far more larger ponies there this year, and the ridden classes were well supported, showing that spotties aren’t just pretty faces! Reading sale of miniature horses & ponies

This was the first sale of miniatures at Reading & it included a section of British Spotted Ponies. It was from this section that the highest prices were reached. Top price went to ASIL’S DARK SECRET an elegant almost black filly foal by Foxley’s Dinky Tot (SPSBS) ex Gaterley Frosted Lace (by 2004 BSpPS Leading Sire Blackwater Tarot) bred by Anita Chaney. Lively bidding reached 1700gns & she was sold to BMHS Chairman Wendy Edgar.Second highest price of 1100gns went to Gwen Fox’s MEADOWFOX TAPESTRY a bay & white filly by Anita Chaneys spotted Stallion Asil’s Calisto out of Longmeadow Hannah who has some lovely breeding behind her. Anita Chaneys other entry ASIL’S TIA MARIA a chocolate brown filly also by Asils Calisto out of Birchwood Pepsi by the palomino stallion Kerswell Suntan fetched 650gns. York sale of spotted & coloured horses & ponies

Spectators were surprised when National Champion CAPITALL DON was offered for sale at the annual sale of spotteds & coloureds. Beautifully turned out as always by the Spalding family, he really turned heads. It is rare to find such an offering at a sale. He was sold for 1250gns & is to be produced under saddle by the purchasers younger sister. He was highest price of the ponies forwards but some of the horses fetched considerably more. Hermits Stud, always a great supporter of the sales, sold the tiny 23” leopard spot colt foal HERMITS SINBAD for 1000gns. There was a lot of interest in this cute little colt. They also entered some fabulous spotted cobs. Mrs Lilly sold AESTHETE CHARISMA a 30” spotted mare by Tanzivan Toulon ex Aesthete Mystic for 900gns. Pat Garrill sold some beautifully marked fillies, Castle Fantasia sold for 820gns, Castle Ice Queen for 640gns…
