York sale of spotted & coloured horses & ponies

Spectators were surprised when National Champion CAPITALL DON was offered for sale at the annual sale of spotteds & coloureds. Beautifully turned out as always by the Spalding family, he really turned heads. It is rare to find such an offering at a sale. He was sold for 1250gns & is to be produced under saddle by the purchasers younger sister. He was highest price of the ponies forwards but some of the horses fetched considerably more. Hermits Stud, always a great supporter of the sales, sold the tiny 23” leopard spot colt foal HERMITS SINBAD for 1000gns. There was a lot of interest in this cute little colt. They also entered some fabulous spotted cobs. Mrs Lilly sold AESTHETE CHARISMA a 30” spotted mare by Tanzivan Toulon ex Aesthete Mystic for 900gns. Pat Garrill sold some beautifully marked fillies, Castle Fantasia sold for 820gns, Castle Ice Queen for 640gns & Castle Ice Beauty for 560gn. Some of the other prices were extremely poor with colt foals selling for 30gns, surely not covering their breeders expenses.
